One of the suspected biggest drug lords in Eastern Visayas is on his way back to the Philippines.
Kerwin Espinosa was hiding in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates for several months until he got caught.
ABS-CBN News correspondent Maan Macapagal shared a video of him where he raised his hand, gave a thumbs up and nodded his head.
Another footage showed that Kerwin was being covered with a black curtain by the authorities and plane's crew.
Members of the Anti-Illegal Drugs Group from the Philippine National Police (PNP) are guarding Kerwin.
He is expected to reach Manila on Friday before dawn.
The younger Espinosa was arrested in Abu Dhabi last month after President Rodrigo Duterte identified him as the big fish behind drug activities in Eastern Visayas.
Many of Kerwin's alleged accomplices were either arrested or murdered.
He admitted that he was in fear for his life following the death of his father Rolando Espinosa Sr. The Albuera, Leyte mayor was killed two weeks ago while in jail.
Nevertheless, the PNP vowed to prioritize Kerwin's safety.
According to the government, Kerwin will probably support the testimony of his father who named high-ranking personalities and several politicians as protectors of illegal drug trade.
Senator Leila de Lima is one of the accused drug coddlers.
