- Pigs have proper fitness routine, too, according to a farmer in China who follows a peculiar manner of raising them
- Huang Deming lets his pigs dive to a water from a platform that is elevated around 10 feet
- He believes that the practice would make his pigs stay fit and have better meats
Talk about unordinary.
A pig farmer from Hunan Province in China follows an uncommon way of raising animals.
Huang Deming lets his pigs plunge into a pond not to take a bath but to stay in good shape.
He made a 10-foot wooden platform at a pond in Ningxiang County where the pigs would go diving every day. The farmer lets his animals swim in the water for a while.
According to Huang, that is the kind of fitness routine for pigs in order to make a better-tasting pork meat out of them.
Huang believes that following the unique exercise would boot the appetite of his pigs aside from boosting the animal's immune system.
Because the pigs have active lifestyle, fat deposits are unlikely to grow. Thus, a fine combination of lean and slightly fatty meat is expected.
The Countryside magazine which features the unusual practice of Huang has explained that just like people, "a hog that eats lots of fresh greens and gets plenty of exercise will have more muscle and less fat than a pig standing in a pig sty eating high carbohydrate grains all day."
