- A video of Duterte humiliating a reporter in NAIA has gone viral
- Duterte lost his temper when the reporter asked him about his controversial joke on Robredo’s knees
- The President told the reporter to ask more meaningful questions and that he does not care if he is portrayed as rude by the media
An intense video clip showing President Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte slamming a reporter for asking about his joke regarding Vice President Leni Robredo’s knees and skirt went viral.
According to the netizen who shared the video, the clip was taken at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) during a press conference.
The reporter asked the President why he made a comment about Robredo’s smooth knees and skirt during his speech for the victims of typhoons.
Duterte suddenly became hostile towards the reporter, saying that he was just making a joke to lighten up the mood because he was angry that many Filipinos affected by the typhoons remain homeless despite the budget given for their housing.
The President added that reporters should ask more meaningful questions and that he does not care if he is portrayed by the media as rude and disrespectful.
The netizen who shared the video also posted that the president can be heard saying that the reporter he slammed was “small time.” The netizen also added that Duterte’s comments about the Vice President’s knees might have a deeper meaning than just praising her smooth knees.
"’Smooth knees’ is a Cebuano idiom used to refer to someone who's lazy or idle,” the netizen explained.
Many social media users applauded the President for his hostile response to the reporter but some netizens pointed out that Duterte could have said his message in a more respectful manner.
