A gigantic sinkhole has opened up under a street intersection in Japan in the city of Fukuoka.
The sinkhole destroyed a five lane intersection right in the middle of the city.
Authorities immediately began evacuating residents from the block in case the sinkhole grew in size and would begin swallowing living quarters.
The sinkhole caused a disruption in traffic, water, electricity and gas. Thankfully, nobody was injured during the accident.
The size of the sinkhole was 27 meters wide, 30 meters long and about 15 meters deep.
Reports indicate that the giant sinkhole was caused by construction work on the subway. The city wanted to increase the length of the subway by another 1.4km.

Many joked that it looked like the works of underground monsters or evil geniuses.
