- After doing an Encantadia remake, a Mulawin remake set to air on GMA in 2017
- Mulawin was first aired in 2004 and had high ratings, a movie, and spinoffs
- Dennies Trillo, who was part of the original cast, may star in the remake
It seems that GMA is cooking another remake of one of its most successful shows for its primetime lineup in 2017.
Dennis Trillo’s manager Popoy Caritativo hinted that Mulawin remake is in the works. The manager posted a photo on Instagram of a meeting of his talent with GMA executives, including AVP for Drama na si Ms. Cheryl Ching-Sy.
The caption reads, “Meeting para sa pinaka bagong primetime show! #Mulawin2017 #MulingPaglipad #DennisTrillo”
Dennis Trillo was part of the original cast of Mulawin as Gabriel. Mulawin narrates the story of fictional winged humanoids. The Mulawin race must protect the mortals against the evil race Ravena who wants to rule the land.
Mulawin originally aired in August 2004 starring Angel Locsin, Dennies Trillo, and Richard Gutierrez. The show garnered high ratings during its entire run until March 2005. The success of Mulawin spawned a movie and spinoffs such as Encantadia and Iglot.
Mulawin made an appearance at Encantadia – Miguel Tan Felix as Pagaspas and Alden Richards as Lakan.
Meanwhile, this news did not sit well with netizens as they think that the network is simply recycling their hit TV shows in the past decade. Furthermore, they speculated that this teaser hinted the impending finale of Encantadia, which suffered poor ratings against ABS-CBN’s Ang Probinsyano.
