- US president-elect Donald Trump was assumed to have the least probability of winning the election
- Even Filipinos thought it would be Hillary Clinton
- But it turned out the other way around
Majority of Filipinos thought Hillary Clinton would win the US presidency. Or may be, just maybe, were hopeful that she would.
According to an online poll conducted by market research company Ipsos, 74% of Filipino respondents believed that the Democratic presidential candidate will claim the victory.
So when the news broke that the Filipinos' bet was losing to the Republican candidate, this is how they reacted.
Jessica Sanchez, an acclaimed American singer of Filipino decent expressed disappointment.
Even before the official results of the election came out, it was crystal clear that Filipinos were all rooting for Clinton.
Some couldn't believe it. Like, for real.
Others compared the election result to what also happened in the Philippines.
