- Aside from acting, Janella Salvador is also known for her singing career
- The 'OPM Pop Sweetheart' has been tapped to sing the 'Moana' theme song for the film's release in the country
- 'Moana' is slated for Philippine theaters on November 30
In line with the release of the new Disney Princess film 'Moana' in Southeast Asia, Disney has tapped female singers from these countries to sing the movie's theme song.
For the Philippines, Kapamilya actress Janella Salvador will sing the theme once the movie hits theaters by the end of the month.
This announcement was made during the film's press conference in Singapore earlier today.
The 'Born For You' actress was able to meet the voice actress of Moana, Auil'i Cravalho, as well as the other appointed singers from the region.
Despite landing an exceptional gig, it is not Janella's first time singing for Disney as she sang 'Happily Ever After' to represent the Filipino community during Hong Kong Disneyland's 10th year anniversary.
She has already been touted as the country's 'OPM Pop Sweetheart' with hits such as 'Ganyan Talaga', 'Mahal Kita Pero', and her covers of 'Dear Heart', 'I Can', and 'Kapag Tumibok Ang Puso'.
'Moana', unlike other Disney Princess films, feature a princess of color - much like Tiana from 'Princess and the Frog'.
Fans hope that the multi-genre film will get her race and culture right, since it is about time that the world get to know other nationalities properly.
Just like the following clip, there are bizarre traditions that other races do but it is up to filmmakers to highlight it or not.
