It has been a proud and fulfilling moment for the Filipino people worldwide as Philippines was' bet Kylie Verzosa was hailed as the 2016 Miss International in Japan.
However, despite all the praises and the honor, Kylie could not forget how she started out and recalled the hardships she had experienced before becoming a certified beauty queen.
In an interview, Kylie shared how painful it was when she lost on her first attempt in bringing home a title from her first Binibining Pilipinas pageant in 2015. Kylie was qualified in the top 15 but then it ended there. She said:
“It was painful [when I didn’t win on my first try]. I didn’t want my legacy to be hanggang top 15 lang.”
On her second try, the beautiful Pinay made sure that she will gain a spot in the Binibining Pilipinas 2016 pageant.
When asked how Kylie prepared for the pageant, she said:
"You have to be a good performer. After all, it is a pageant. You have to know beauty... physical beauty. So dapat pag-aralan mo yung hair, make up, what's best for you. Your styling, you have to learn your catwalk, your posing, your projection, you have to be mentally prepared for it."
She then gave an advice for women who alse aspire to become a beauty queen:
“I made myself the best version of me and then I joined. Mag-aral munang mabuti. A beautiful woman has a good personality and she is also very intelligent.”.
