With the Miss Universe pageant 2017 finally confirmed to be hosted by the Philippines and the New Year just a few months away, the Department of Tourism (DOT) is doing everything to prepare for the glamourous event.
Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo stated “After all that’s been said and done, I happily welcome on behalf of the DOT the latest announcement of the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) through Pia Wurtzbach that finally the Philippines will indeed play host to the much awaited 2016 Miss Universe pageant."
The secretary of the DOT also confirms that the Miss Universe is set to be held at the Mall of Asia Arena on January 30, 2017.
The Tourism Secretary also announced that a famed artist of Filipino heritage will be performing in the Pageant, saying “Talagang sikat na sikat na celebrity with Filipino blood (A very famous celebrity with Filipino blood).”
When asked who it would be, Madam Tourism Secretary stated, “Ayokong magsalita (I’d rather not say anything).”
Though Steve Harvey is said to host next year’s Miss Universe pageant, Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo stated that she wishes to get a Filipino co-host and will consult with the pageant organizers.
There are many famed artist with Filipino roots, such as The Black Eyed Peas member Apl.de.Ap, Bruno Mars and Vanessa Hudgens. Many Pinoys wish to see them preforming on a Filipino stage, and maybe one of them will. But as of now nothing yet is certain.
