On Tuesday, Duterte said, "I'd like to thank him for helping me, and being of the service to the nation even at his age."

Aside from expressing his gratitude, however, Duterte also hinted at disagreement between himself and the former President, saying, "Pasensya na lang. If you do not like my commitment which to me was a sacred promise during May during the last elections, ito ang gagawin ko at nanalo ako."

Netizens are quick to point out that one possible reason for the disagreement may have been the critical opinion column written by Ramos which coincided with Duterte's 100th day in office.

In his column, Ramos lambasted Duterte for being "stuck in unending controversies about judicial killings" and for "using cuss-words and insults". He also tagged the President as "a huge disappointment and let-down to many".

Duterte, however, concluded his statement by saying that he will take the former President's advice but will assess it on his own.

He also reiterated his "covenant" to the people which he claims to be about stopping drugs and criminality.

"Hindi naman siguro sabihin na nag-resign siya as a special envoy, hindi na ako makapagtanong sa kanya," Duterte concluded.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, despite the bashers from all sides, continues to act on the promises he has given during his campaign in a way he sees fit.
