Tough on the outside but soft on the inside.
Newly crowned Miss International 2016, Kylie Verzosa confessed that she had several moments of breaking down before and after the pageant's coronation on Thursday.
The winning Philippine bet recalled how she lose control of her emotions.
Anxiety, disappointment, pressure, surprise and nervousness - when all are combined, you expect nothing but a disaster within yourself.
Kylie felt this in between wardrobe changes while in the competition. Tears would roll down her cheeks every time those mixed feelings got more intense.
One instance was during the national costume bout where she felt like walking out.
"National costume, kinakabahan ako (I was nervous). I was so nervous, I wanted to get down the stage. I said, 'I can't do this anymore, I don't want to do this," the 24-year-old Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) graduate said in an interview with ABS-CBN news on Friday.
Second, when she almost lost her balance during the swimsuit portion, she was bombarded with all the negativeness.
"After national costume, there were good comments. After swimsuit, there were no comments, so I was like, 'Wala na (It's done), I'm so sorry, I did my best'," Kylie recollected.
Third was when she failed to achieve the hair she was supposed to have during the evening gown competition.
"I didn't get the hair I wanted. Before coming out I was nervous about my hair but [I said] bahala na," she said recalling how upset she was.
Another was after she delivered her winning piece on culture and international understanding. The reigning beauty queen admitted she went backstage to cry and break down. That was despite the fact the she already received praise from the crowd with her speech.
"I went backstage, I was crying after my speech. I was crying and I don't know why," the Filipina titleholder said noting that she was not satisfied with her speech.
The final surge of tears came when she was named as the winner.
"When I was crowned, I covered my face and said, 'You don't look good crying, Kylie', so I just covered my face," Kylie said.
The new Miss International declared she was shocked as she was not prepared for winning the crown.
