Death is definitely on the rise.
One mayor of a town in Maguindanao who was previously tagged by Duterte as among the “narco-politicians” of the country was killed at around 4:30 a.m. at a police checkpoint.
Mayor Samsudin Dimaukom of Datu Saudi Ampatuan was shot dead during an alleged shootout which transpired at a checkpoint in Makilala, North Cotabato.
It wasn’t only the mayor who was declared dead by the staff at Makilala Specialist Hospital and Midway Hospital. His nine bodyguards were likewise declared dead.
Based on reports, the Anti-Illegal Drugs Group and Regional Public Safety Battalion 12 received information that the mayor’s group would be transporting illegal drugs.
These two groups also were manning the checkpoint at Brgy. Balatukan.
Reports have it that the convoy of the mayor allegedly passed through the checkpoint and when it was flagged, they didn’t stop at the checkpoint.

A shootout ensued, and the mayor and his nine bodyguards were all killed. It was reported that the mayor’s convoy were allegedly the ones who initially fired at the government operatives.
Six firearms of different kinds were recovered from the crime scene. Thirteen sachets of illegal drugs were likewise recovered.
Prior to the shootout, the mayor’s compound was raided by operatives and no illegal drugs were found in the premises.
Aside from the mayor, his wife, Vice Mayor Anida Dimaukom was also included in the President’s list.
