- President Rodrigo Duterte congratulated Kylie Vezosa after winning the Miss International title
- He praised the beauty of the Filipinas but later insulted the Commission on Human Rights
- Verzosa won the title during the pageant held in Tokyo, Japan.
It was another stellar night for Filipinos and the most beautiful woman not only in the Philippines but internationally, Kylie Verzosa, as she was crowned as the Miss International 2016, October 27, in Tokyo, Japan.
President Rodrigo Duterte was indeed grateful over another achievement and congratulated the beautiful Pinay as he arrived in Davao International Airport from the same country the pageant was held for an official vist. He said:
"I’d like to congratulate the Miss International. Mabuhay ka at I’d like to meet her just to congratulate her personally."

According to the president, Verzosa's win made him happy saying that it gives Filipinos something to be proud of. He then praised the beautiful women in the country but later attacked the Commission on human Rights (CHR) and called them 'ugly'. Duterte said:
"Of course, I am happy. I am always happy if our beautiful women win all the titles. Kasi, Pilipino tayo, it gives us konting hambog. It lifts the... Parang mayabang tayo. Kita mo, magaganda mga Pilipina."
"Pero kayong lahat diyan sa Human Rights Commission, mga pangit."

Duterte and Verzosa had bumped with each other during the pageant rehersals in Tokyo.
Verzosa is the 6th Filipina to win the title.
