- Ariel Rivera, a veteran actor popularly tagged with the moniker "Kilabot ng mga Kolehiyala" in the 90s, is back on the dating scene
- The actor, despite having a new show with GMA Network, proudly says that he is now back at the dating scene
- With both of their boys in the US, the actor says he now has more time for his wife of 19 years, Gelli de Belen
As veteran actor and "Kilabot ng mga Kolehiyala" Ariel Rivera returns to a new high-tension drama series entitled Hahamakin Ang Lahat (formerly Anything For You), the actor admits to now having more time to dote on his wife, Gelli de Belen.
Beginning Monday (October 31), Ariel Rivera will be appearing on GMA prime time, as Nelson Solano, a poor Filipino love interest to Eula Valdez, in the compelling love story entitled Hahamakin Ang Lahat.
The showbiz couple boasts of a good 19 years of marriage, and were blessed with two boys, Joaquín Andrés and Julio Alessandro (17 and 15) who have now both migrated to Canada, with Ariel Rivera's family to study.
"The change is really difficult, but at the same time, we all have to go through that. Kapag magulang ka, you have to let go of your kids someday. Sa case lang namin, a little earlier than we hoped," he clarified.
The couple had both been hands-on parents to their two boys, and Rivera said that the change had been difficult but they decided against migrating to Canada with the boys.
"'Yung mga anak ko, never nagkaroon ng yaya. Very hands-on kami. So ngayon, more than 50 percent of our time, libre na kasi wala na 'yung mga bata," he said.
"Mahirap kasi our lives revolved around our two boys, but now, we have to, somehow, rekindle our relationship," Rivera clarified, and added, "Pero naisip ko rin na kung nandoon kami, anong gagawin ni Gelli? Wala siyang gagawin doon. Baka 'yun pa ang maging dahilan para maghiwalay kami. Mabo-bore siya tapos mag-aaway kami. Kaya ngayon, pabalik-balik na lang kami doon."
According to the actor, despite belonging to different networks now, he and his wife always make sure that they have time for each other, especially now that their kids are away.
"Now we have to do things like we're starting again with a relationship, which is fun kasi parang teenagers ulit kami, nagde-date," he said.
Their schedule, according to Rivera, are also in congruence with each other, giving them more time to rekindle their relationship while they cope with the change brought by the boys' migration.
"It works out perfectly dahil she works Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Ako rin ganoon, (I do, too) so the days in between and weekends, we have together. May time kami for each other. (We have time for each other.) It works out well," the actor said.
Now that they have more time for each other, we pray that the love story of this lovely showbiz couple turns out to be like the beautifully heartbreaking story of this lovely couple who literally lived out their wedding vows.
