He added that the bandits are usually unarmed and alone when they go to other regions.

“Matagal na silang nakakaikot (They have been going around for a long time already). Actually, kapag lumalabas ’yan walang armas at solo ang lakad (when they go out, they do not bring weapons and they travel alone),” the PNP chief admitted.

Bato’s statement came after intelligence report from Central Visayas said that six Abu Sayyaf members entered Cebu last Friday, allegedly to conduct terror attacks in the region.

Some of the possible terror activities include kidnapping well-known personalities and bombing public areas such as malls and business establishments.

Supt. Julian Entoma warned the public to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity in the area.

However, Central Visayas regional police director Chief Supt. Noli Taliño said that those intelligence reports should not have been revealed to the public because they remain unverified.

There are also several police reports saying that the Abu Sayyaf members have already returned to Mindanao.

The Abu Sayyaf group is the main suspect in the September 2 bombing at a night market in Davao which took the lives of 14 people and injured 70 others. President Rodrigo Duterte vowed to avenge the victims by completely destroying the infamous bandit group.
