Police raided a huge scale shabu laboratory hidden at a private compound in Isabela. The lab can produce up to 600 kilos of shabu each month.
In an exclusive report of ABS-CBN, the Philippine National Police Anti-Illegal Drugs Group (PNP-AIDG) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Special Enforcement Service (PDEA-SES) led the operation targeting the Ahong Group Drug Syndicate that operates the lab.
The syndicate is composed of Chinese nationals: Atong Lee, Kim Uy, alias Lung and Lo Chi, the chemist of the shabu laboratory in Prenza Maharlika Highway, District 1 in Cauayan, Isabela Sunday noon. At the raid, Kim Uy and an unidentified male suspect were killed in an encounter after allegedly resisting arrest.
Meanwhile, other syndicate members Lo Chi has escaped to Taiwan and Atong Lee has been in hiding since October 8.
The shabu lab houses various drug paraphernalia inside the laboratory, including two huge hydrogenators used in shabu processing that can produce up to 200 kilos of shabu per 10-day cycle reportedly distributed in Regions 1 and 2.
Alarmed by the coveted existence of shabu lab in the province, Isabela Governor Faustino Dy plans to issue an executive order to inspect and search warehouses. The inspectors will be accompanied by PDEA because they know what equipment is used in a shabu laboratory.
