If you have been ever working under director’s authority who is always making premature decisions, without preliminary examination of the facts, you will like this story.
Once, a company had to hire new personnel together with a new CEO. A new boss was committed to get rid of all slouches and other good-for-nothing workers.
One day, in the company entry, he noticed a guy who leant on the wall and picked his teeth. Some of other company workers were also standing in the entry, so a new director decided to bung on a demonstrative quit for them.
He approached the guy and strictly asked:
“What is your weekly pay?”
A guy dazedly glanced at the director and answered, “Well, I get about $400 a week. Why are you asking?”
The director dropped a rough phrase, “Stay here.”
He went into his office and in a couple of minutes came back with some money.
Giving $1600 to the guy, he strictly said, “Here you have your monthly wage. But now, get out of here and never come back!”
Being satisfied with his action, the CEO looked around the entry and asked in a loud voice, “Can somebody tell me what this guy had been doing here?”
Somebody’s voice from the depth of the room replied, “Of course! It was a guy from a pizza delivery service — he was just waiting for his money here.”
