- 74-year-old man attacked his mother and threatened to kill her
- David hit Ellen with a broom
- He has been arrested and is held without bail
David Corning (74) from Florida was arrested after threatening his mother, Ellen Corning (100), to kill her and hitting her with a broom. Corning was charged with aggravated battery on a person older than 65.
Ellen turned 100 in April this year. She has told the officers that David has also threatened to kill her and that she is now frightened. Apparently, the incident occurred on Tuesday, but Ellen was too afraid to report it immediately.
According to the centenarian, Ellen entered David’s room to feed his cat. He then started yelling, attacked her with a broom, and said he’s going to kill her. At one point, a broom hit the side of Ellen’s head, breaking her glasses.
Ellen testifies that she spent the rest of the evening in her bedroom and that she is afraid. David claims Ellen was hurt by accident, while she’s determined to proceed with charges against her son. David Corning is now being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail.
