- He explained that he is willing to give up his life, honor and post for what he believes is right

- The President said that he will accept it if God does not want him to finish his six-year term

President Rodrigo Duterte said that he is willing to sacrifice the highest government post in the country for what he believes is right.

He said that it is part of his destiny if he would be impeached for doing what he believes is the best for the Philippines.

“Sabi nila, ‘ay ‘yan mawala ‘yan i-impeach.’ Ako taya ako honor, buhay, pati ang pagka-Presidente ko. Huwag ninyo akong takutin ‘yang mga taga-Manila na mag-rally kayo next year paalisin niyo ‘yan. Kasi pag napaalis ako, that is part of my destiny,” Duterte said during his speech in Batanes while visiting the typhoon victims.

(They said, “he will be impeached.” I am willing to sacrifice my honor, life and presidency. Do not try to scare me, those people from Manila can rally next year to call for impeachment. If I am impeached, that is part of my destiny.)

Duterte has been receiving backlash and criticisms for the alleged extrajudicial killings in the country since his term started and for his hostility towards the United States, the European Union, the United Nations, human rights advocates and even the Catholic Church.

Even local politicians such as Senator Panfilo Lacson and showbiz personalities like Agot Isidro have slammed the President for his careless statements towards the known foreign allies of the country.

The President has also been criticized for his friendliness towards Russia and China, despite the latter’s unwillingness to acknowledge the UN tribunal’s decision regarding the West Philippine Sea territorial dispute.

However, Duterte explained that he has no care about the amount of time he will be able to serve the country as the President.

“Kasali ‘yan sa destiny ko na kung ma-Presidente ako ng dalawang buwan lang, dalawang taon, that is part of what destiny, what God gave me,” he said.

(That is a part of my destiny, of what God gave me, if I am only able to serve as the President for two months only, two years.)
