1. Bruno Mars
Born as Peter Gene Hernandez on October 8, 1985, Bruno Mars is a singer-songwriter whose songs have constantly been part of the top charts. His father is Peter Hernandez who is half Puerto Rican and half Ashkenazi Jewish while his mother Bernadette San Pedro Baluyot is a Filipina who emigrated from the Philippines to Hawaii.
2. Vanessa Hudgens
Vanessa Hudgens captured the hearts of many, especially teenagers when she played the role of Gabriela Montez in the High School Musical series. Little did we know that this charming face is of Filipino descent. Born in Salinas California, Vanessa’s father, Gregory Hudgens, was a firefighter while her mother Gina was a native of Manila.
Allan Pineda Lindo, popularly known as Apl.de.ap, is a Filipino American hip hop recording artist who made his debut as part of the group Black Eyed Peas. His father was an African American airman who was stationed at the Clark Air Base, Pampanga where he met Apl’s mother Cristina Pineda, a Filipina. Although Apl’s father left his family after his birth, his mother was able to raise him along with his other six younger siblings.
4. Nicole Scherzinger
Born Nicole Prascovia Elikolani Valiente, Nicole Scherzinger is not only a singer-songwriter but also an actress and a television personality. Nicole’s father is Alfonso Valiente who is of Filipino descent while her mother Rosemary Elikolani is a native Hawaiian and Ukranian. Her parents separated when she was still a baby but her mother remarried a German American, Gary Scherzinger, who adopted her.
5. Enrique Iglesias
Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler was born on May 8, 1975. Both of his parents are popular figures. His father, Julio Iglesias, is an internationally famous Spanish singer while his mother Isabel Preyler is a Filipino socialite and magazine journalist. Enrique is widely regarded as the King of Latino Pop for his songs and albums that made him one of the best-selling Spanish artists ever.
