A woman who claimed that she was raped and kidnapped has been jailed for a year. It is reported that she admitted to making a false claim.
Leiha Artman from Muskegon, Michigan said that she was raped by four black men. She alleges that she was in the driveway of her home and was approached by the men, who pretended to ask for directions before accosting her and placing her her in the trunk of their car.
Her partner said that he received photographs of her on his phone, showing her gagged and bleeding from the head.
He allegedly found her two days after she disappeared in a street near her mother's home. He says she had been badly beaten.
He believes that although she admitted to fabricating the story, she had definitely been hurt by someone and lied to protect herself from the real attacker.
He stated that she was a heroin addict and needed help, and also a good woman and good mother. She was interviewed by police while receiving treatment in hospital and later jailed for a year for make a false claim and statement to police.
