- A staff member from the Elephant Nature Park in Thailand decided to play with a baby elephant
- He pretended he was drowning in a river and when the elephant saw him she ran into the water headfirst and saved the staff member
- The baby elephant was saved from a group of elephant handlers that were mistreating her and subjecting her to cruel exercises
This video captures the touching moment a baby elephant named Kham La from the Elephant Nature Park in Northern Thailand saves a man from the rushing river that was taking him away downstream.
When little Kham La saw her favorite staff member, Derrick, ‘drowning’ in the fast current of the river she ran into the water head first to save the man.
The baby elephant courageously rushes into the river when she thinks she sees that Derrick is in danger and cradles the man with her snout and pulls the man out of the river with no effort. It is clear how much the elephant loves her human friend and Derrick gives her a hug for rescuing her.
Kham La was rescued by the elephant sanctuary when she was just four years old from the hands of circus trainers.
Since then she has been living in the Elephant Sanctuary where she is much better off and living a new life and making new friends.
