- A girl in her 20s was raped early Saturday morning in the Atherton Park in Manchester.
- The police have received a call and immediately arrived at the park as early as 6:30 am.
- A spokesman from the Greater Manchester Police said that investigation is ongoing and the police officers are doing everything they can to find the rapist.
The emergency phone was set so that anyone with relevant information regarding the situation could deliver what they know.The accident does not look like an act of a chain of rapes and was classified as isolated.The police have been working in the park for the whole morning and entrance to this public space was unavailable for morning joggers and anyone who wanted to take a stroll as part of their regular morning routine.
Forensics were also conducting the investigation at the children's playground as some onlookers noticed and reported to the media. The victim of the alleged rape currently needs serious psychological help and is supported by the specially trained personnel that deals with victims of such cases. At the moment, no other information yet available as the investigation is still in progress.
