Despite receiving backlash for his hostile attitude towards his critics, President Rodrigo Duterte seems to have no plans to back down from cursing and insulting his detractors.
The President on Wednesday warned his critics that he will give them “gallons of curses” once he loses his respect for them.
“If I don’t respect you anymore, be prepared for the worst because I can give you gallons of gallons of epithets, curses,” Duterte said during his speech at the Philippine Coast Guard 115th anniversary celebration.
The tough-talking President has repeatedly slammed the United States, the United Nations, the European Union, the Catholic Church and other human rights advocates for making negative remarks about the spate of killings nationwide since the start of his term.
He even dared the foreign allies to withdraw their support from the country and said that he is planning to make friends with China and Russia instead.
During his speech, the President once again hit the foreign allies of the country for expressing their concern for his war on drugs.
“This is how you treat your friends. You do not go about reprimanding,” Duterte said.
After slamming the Philippines’ foreign allies, Duterte proceeded to applaud China for funding the drug rehabilitation center located in Nueva Ecija.
China and the Philippines have been engaged in a territorial dispute for the West Philippine Sea. Despite the UN tribunal ruling in favor of the Philippines, China has refused to acknowledge the country’s rights over the disputed territory.
