- The actor-singer said that Agot Isidro has the right to speak her mind on any issue
- He urged both the pro and anti-Duterte crowds to learn how to respect each other despite their differences
- However, Bautista did not say whether he agreed with Isidro or not
Amid the controversy surrounding actress Agot Isidro due to her anti-Duterte rant on Facebook, singer-actor Christian Bautista on Monday made a defense of her right to freely express her opinion about President Rodrigo Duterte.
“As some artists have said it already, we all have our own opinion. Yun lang, hindi ko na ie-elaborate yun, hindi ko na ie-explain (I will not elaborate on it and will not explain it). We all have the right to share our own opinion,” the famous Kapuso singer said.
Isidro received heavy backlash from the pro-Duterte netizens after she described the controversial president as a “psychopath.”
The actress was dismayed after Duterte dared the United States and the European Union to withdraw the support that they are giving to the Philippines.
According to Isidro, Duterte’s harsh comments towards the foreign superpowers might cause problems, especially for the poor Filipino communities.
Christian Bautista added that both the pro and anti-Duterte crowds should learn how to respect each other’s opinion despite their differences.
“If that's their opinion, then that that's their opinion. It doesn't have to match your opinion. Yung mga hindi agree kay (To those who do not agree with) Ma'am Agot, we should also respect their own opinion not to agree with Ma'am Agot,” he explained.
Duterte also made a comment about the issue, saying that the actress is free to express her opinion based on the constitution.
Christian Bautista – known as a gentleman in showbiz – is one of the country’s leading singers and performers. He is most famous for the OPM songs “The Way You Look At Me,” “Hands to Heaven,” and “Colour Everywhere.”
