Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach thanked good friend and Miss USA Olivia Jordan for visiting the Philippines and judging in Binibining Pilipinas, where Pia’s successor for the local beauty pageant was crowned.
In an Instagram post, Wurtzbach thanked the Miss Universe 2015 second runner-up winner for visiting the country even for just a short while.
“Liv, I know it was a short trip, but thank you so much for coming with me to the Philippines! I'm so glad everybody gave you a warm welcome. I hope you enjoyed the pageant,” the Instagram post read.
Wurtzbach invited Jordan to the Philippines, and it was her good friend's first time to visit the country. The two were part of the grand coronation night of Binibining Pilipinas 2016, which eventually saw the crowning of Maxine Medina as the new Miss Philippines and is set to claim a back-to-back Miss Universe win for the Philippines. Wurtzbach and Jordan were also joined by Pia’s “Miss U sisters” Miss Malaysia Vanessa Tevi Kumares and Miss Myanmar May Thaw.
Wurtzbach also mentioned Miss World 2013 Megan Young in the same Instagram post.
“And next time we definitely have to hit the beach when our schedules aren't so hectic anymore. I promise you that! First stop, Boracay! @missusa and let's steal @meganbata?” the post read.
In 2013, Megan Young represented the Philippines in the Miss World beauty pageant and eventually brought home the crown, the first for the country and for any Southeast Asian nation. In the same pageant where 127 countries competed, Jordan represented the United States and landed in the Top 20.
After the Miss Universe 2015 pageant, Jordan was dubbed by netizens as “Pambansang Bestie” in praise and admiration for her in supporting Miss Philippines Pia Wutzbach during the announcement mix-up. She is now roommates with Wurtzbach in New York City, where the Miss Universe Organization is based.
