- Three years ago, Charice shocked fans when he revealed that he is a lesbian on national television
- However, his relationship with 'X Factor Philippines' contestant Alyssa Quijano has been longer as evidenced by his short but sweet message to her on his Instagram page
- Last year, the 'Pyramid' singer told the press that they have plans to get married
The longevity of a relationship does not necessarily apply only to men and women, but also to relationships of the same gender. Case in point: Charice Pempengco and Alyssa Quijano.
The recent post of the 'Little Big Star' alumna was dedicated to his girlfriend, whom he has been with for four years. He shared a photo of them together, with him rocking a black outfit perfect for a rock star while she looked like she fit in a country music video.
Charice's caption for the photo was straightforward yet still sweet, as he commemorated their four years together by telling his followers that he loves her and he will keep her forever.
Netizens congratulated the two on their anniversary and some asked them when will their wedding be.
Last year, Charice disclosed to the press that he and Alyssa have been planning their wedding. He declared that Alyssa is the one for him but before they can tie the knot, they each have to focus on their specific endeavors. He said that he wants his girlfriend to finish his studies first and he wants to focus on his career while she does.
Instead of going back to the international scene, the former 'Glee' star announced that he wants to reach out to his local fan base this time. He has released an album dedicated to them called 'Catharsis' which is available on Spotify.
If he has been with Alyssa for four years, then it has been three years since he came out as a lesbian.
It has not been easy for some to accept his sexual orientation, more particularly his mother Raquel. Over time, he and his mother made up and he has finally become the person he wants to be.
Congratulations to Charice and Alyssa for making us believe that relationships can last more than a few weeks or months and for being the perfect example that love knows no gender.
Love wins for these two indeed!
