Whenever a child is in trouble, his or her parents will always come to save the day - no matter how old you are.
That was the case of 37-year-old Mark Anthony Fernandez, who was arrested in Angeles City, Pampanga for marijuana possession last Monday.
At first, the actor admitted that the stash was his - stating that he used the drug for preventing cancer. However, when he spoke to police officials, he claimed that he was framed by local policemen.
His mother, actress and Parañaque City councilor Alma Moreno, has been with him since yesterday to help him clear his name.
The recent turn of events has got Mark pleading not guilty to the two charges pressed against him, such as transporting and possessing marijuana and possessing drug paraphernalia. Despite the odds going in his favor, he has yet to be arraigned for another offense which was resisting arrest at the Municipal Trial Court Branch 1 under Judge Ireneo Pangilinan.
Mark's arrest will not be an easy one to get out of, since he has committed a crime that is non-bailable and he can be incarcerated for life.
The struggle is indeed real for his mother, Alma, who took to her Facebook page to ask her friends and followers to pray for him.
Her short and simple post was accompanied by a picture of three people praying over an image of Mother Mary with the Child Jesus.
Those who commented sympathized with her since they understood her pain as a mother who wants justice for her son.
Aside from her councilor duties, Alma is slowly getting back into the limelight with upcoming acting projects such as GMA's 'Tsuperhero', which also star Gabby Concepcion, Bea Binene, and Derrick Monasterio.
She is also set to appear in Star Cinema's 'The Third Party', the most anticipated film comeback of Angel Locsin, Zanjoe Marudo, and Sam Milby.
She may have a lot on her plate right now, but like she said in her infamous interview with Karen Davila: 'Dasal lang. Dasal lang talaga.' (Prayers. Just prayers.)
In other words, our faith will help us overcome our problems if we face it head on.
