Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, the chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), has broken his silence regarding the viral photo of two female cops posing with arrested actor Mark Anthony Fernandez at the Angeles City police station.
According to the police chief, the photo is inappropriate because the celebrity in the picture is being charged with drug possession, drug use and drug transportation.
“Personally ako (me), I don’t like that picture because as law enforcers, na-starstruck ka pa rin sa isang (are you still getting star-struck with a) criminal offender, meaning, di ba hinuli siya (was he not arrested)?” the crime-busting PNP chief said.
He also expressed his concern that the public might get a wrong idea about the picture and suspect that the police treat celebrity criminals differently from private citizens.

However, the director general seemed to be willing to forgive the policewoman, saying that they might just have been overwhelmed because the arrested drug user is a famous celebrity. He also suspected that the female cops might be big fans of local movies.
He added that he did not like the action of the policewomen but he understand why they did it. He did not say whether the cops will be penalized for taking a selfie with Fernandez.
Many netizens expressed their criticisms over the viral picture of the actor with the cops.
"Ano ba yan, parang nasa mall lang at hindi sa police station," a netizen complained.
(They act as if they are in the mall and not a police station.)
"Idol nila arestado dahil sa drugs? Isip-isip," another online user commented.
(They idolize someone who has been arrested because of drugs? They better think about it.)
"Baka naman yung ibang pulis salbahe makitungo sa mga bilanggo except kung artista," a netizen wondered.
(There might be some cops who treat prisoners badly except the arrested celebrities.)
