Abella tells PH to use imagination when Duterte speaks

Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella holds a press briefing on Wednesday, October 5, at the New Executive Building in Malacañang to clarify President Rodrigo Duterteś statement that condemned US President Barack Obama to hell and the European Union (EU) to purgatory.

According to him, the President is a ¨one man social revolution¨ and that his statements are mere manifestations meant to teach us to respect our sovereignty.

¨Tinuturuan niya tayong igalang ang ating pagka bansa,¨ says Abella.

¨Let's use our imagination, 'wag nating gawing masyadong literal (ang mga pahayag ni Pangulong Duterte),¨ Abella added.

The spokesperson also attributed the presidentś statement on cutting ties with the US to his interest in having an independent foreign policy that is not ¨held down by any treaty¨.

Abella further stated that the Philippines is after its dignity as a nation and not foreign aid or the possibility of ¨baka mahirapan tayo.¨

¨In the present, no moves yet [of breaking up ties with US],¨ Abella concluded.
