- Netizen Ruth Umali never imagined that she would experience the reverse of what she thought was safe - booking a GrabCar
- In a Facebook post she shared on Monday, October 3, Umali narrated what transpired that day she was inside the vehicle
- Umali described her experience as traumatic and distressing
Her own car was in a shop that time leaving her no choice but to rather ride a public vehicle to reach home. She booked from Boni Ave Halcon going to the Jollibee Plaza. Waze told her that the destination was only 14 minutes away.
After she booked the car, she messaged the driver and told him to fetch her at the corner street of Jollibee. The driver, on the other hand, asked her to go to the McDonald's. She obeyed.
The car she was riding has not even been reached that far yet from her pickup point when its driver began complaining out of the blue. The driver frankly told her that he will no longer drop her off to where she is going for some reason.
The GrabCar driver then started to force her to get off the vehicle and pay. Umali, frustrated and disheartened, told the driver that she is in no way going to pay because that is not what she booked earlier.
The angry driver stopped the car, started shouting at her and continued arguing with her. Umali felt an intense fear when she noticed that the driver began opening compartments as if looking for something in the car while contending with her.
That's the time Umali decided to step out of the cab and give the driver a payment even if it was against her will.
Before she totally went out, the angry driver threatened her not to slam the door, but, she did anyway out of her dismay, which only provoke the driver to chase her.
Luckily, she was quick to get away and ran to the nearest bank in the area where there were security guards.
Umali can still remember clearly how her whole body trembled that moment and she couldn't help but cry every time she recalls. It was such a very traumatic experience for a female passenger like her.
