- Model Deniece Cornejo attended a UN event in Muntinlupa City as a representative of the country
- She also met and “exchanged thoughts” with former President Fidel V. Ramos at the event
- Cornejo added that she shared the different beautiful aspects of the Philippines with representatives from other countries
Controversial model Deniece Cornejo was one of the Philippines’ representatives at the International Day of Peace celebration where she also met with former President Fidel V. Ramos, held on September 22 (21 in the U.S.).
According to Cornejo, she and the former President of the Philippines exchanged thoughts and ideas during their meeting at the United Nations (UN) event.
“Exchanging of thoughts with the 12th president of the Philippines Fidel V. Ramos during the celebration of International Peace day,” Cornejo posted on her Instagram page.
The event was held after she was appointed as the ambassador of goodwill of Chivalric Order of the Royal House of Baloi – an organization based in Mindanao, affiliated with the UN.
She added that the special event held at the Vivere Hotel & Resorts, Muntinlupa City, was simultaneously celebrated in the U.S. and attended by representatives from other nations.
'We celebrated International Peace Day same time in the U.S. here in the Philippines, together with other invited dignitaries, sultans, politicians, ambassadors from different countries, guests from seven continents, and a special participation of former president Fidel V Ramos,” Deniece Cornejo noted.
One of the main highlights of the celebration was the special talk conducted by a UN representative about the sustainable development goals which are said to be necessary for creating peace, ending poverty and protecting the environment.
Deniece Cornejo said that she shared with the representatives of other nations about the beauty of the Philippines’ culture, nature and people.
The controversial model made headlines in 2014 after she was allegedly involved in the serious illegal detention of actor-TV host Vhong Navarro. Her rape complaints against the actor were junked by the court and she was detained for four months until she posted bail in September 2014.
Some observers believe that Navarro and Cornejo have already made an out-of-court settlement in order to leave their past behind.
