Film lovers who missed to take on the eight-hour plus challenge presented by Lav Diaz’s “Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis” (A Lullaby to the Sorrowful Mystery) last March will now have a chance to do so as Cinematheque Centre Manila and UP Film Institute bring the re-screening of the award-winning film this April and May.
Film screening at Cinematheque Centre Manila will start on April 25, as well as all Fridays and Sundays of May. Cinematheque in Iloilo and Baguio City have also announced screenings on April 23 to 24 and April 30 to May 1, respectively. Tickets are priced at P200 and may be bought an hour before the screening or in advance by visiting Cinematheque on an earlier date. The eight-hour long film will start at 11 a.m. with a one-hour break and another thirty-minute break for the audience.
On the other hand, Cine Adarna at the UP Film Institute in Diliman, Quezon City will hold screenings on May 7 and May 14 with tickets reportedly priced at P350 each.
Diaz’s masterpiece features storylines of historical figures, characters from Rizal’s Noli and El Fili, and mythological creatures in Filipino folklore. Hele stars John Lloyd Cruz, Piolo Pascual, Cherie Gil, Angel Aquino, Alessandra De Rossi, and Ely Buendia, among others.
