- Vilma Santos expressed her concerns over the alleged drug list containing the names of celebrity drug users
- Santos said that the PDEA should first confirm the names before announcing them in public
- According to the actress-politician, confirming the names on the list will help protect the reputation of innocent celebrities
Batangas Representative Vilma Santos said on Sunday that she has some concerns over the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency’s alleged drug list which supposedly contains the names of showbiz personalities.
According to the “Star for all Seasons,” the PDEA should first verify the names of the celebrities on the list before they release it to the public.
“Walang masama dun, nararapat lamang yun. Pero sana, bago bitawan ang pangalan, siguraduhin lang natin,” the Batangas lawmaker said.
(There is nothing wrong with the list. But hopefully, they will confirm the names first before they announce them in public.)
The actress-politician explained that a thorough verification process should be performed because the reputation of the celebrities will be ruined once the drug list is released.
“Kasi nakasalalay yung pagkatao ng artista at kung sinuman ang pinapangalanan. Kung mayroon, may pagkakataon naman ang tao para magbago,” she pointed out.
(The dignity of the artists and the other named personalities are at stake here. If they are guilty, there is still a chance for people to change.)
Despite her concerns over the showbiz drug list, Vilma Santos expressed her full support for President Rodrigo Duterte’s war against illegal drugs.
Actor Robin Padilla also spoke last month about the alleged celebrity drug list, saying that the government should not release the names of celebrities who are suspected of using drugs.
According to the actor, the celebrity drug users are just victims of the drug pushers and drug lords in the country.
