Killer whales, aka Orca whales, are the largest member of the dolphin family. These black and white sea mammals are extremely intelligent and adaptable animals who can communicate and cooperate with each other in order to hunt more effectively.
One of such meal getting campaigns ended rather badly for this female Orca who got trapped between rocks on the coastline. Thankfully a man spotted the dangerous situation and called a group of animal rescuers reporting on the case. People showed up in no time and did their utmost to keep this stranded Orca alive. Upon their arrival, rescuers first covered the whale with wet tarps and sheets, and then continuously doused her with water in order to keep her body cool and wet. Slowly the tide began to creep up, but it took them 8 hours before water rose high enough and the trapped animal managed to free herself from the rocks.
Although these giants have earned the threatening nickname the killer whale, Orcas aren’t typically a threat to humans. And this lady definitely knew the volunteers were trying to help her, and so she stayed calm and patient.
