A video of two cops taking care of an abandoned elderly man in Zamboanga del Norte had gone viral, with the online community touched by the warm gestures of the policeman towards a stranger.
According to the post by the Liloy Municipal Police Station, the cops in the video are SPO2 Maximo Canico at SPO4 Jose Roel Sanchez. One of the cops gave the old man a bath while the other one helped the abandoned stranger wear his clothes.
The Liloy Municipal Police Station are asking netizens to help the old man – named Romie Jumawan – find his family.
“Ito po si Tatay Romie Jumawan ang kanyang mga anak ay sina Roberto/Rebecca Jumawan na taga Sicayab, Dipolog City... wala na pong nag aalaga kay Tatay paki share na lang po para makaabot sa kanyang pamilya para makuha na siya sa Liloy Municipal Police Station,” the Liloy MPS posted.
(This is Tatay Romie Jumawan, his children are Roberto / Rebecca Jumawan from Sicayab, Dipolog City... No one is caring for Tatay, please share so that his family can take him home from the Liloy Municipal Station.)
The Liloy MPS urged netizens to contact the station by calling their hotline number 0977-816-7358.
Many netizens appreciated the actions of the policemen towards the abandoned old man.
Several netizens also commented that the public perception of policemen in the Philippines is improving under the leadership of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa and President Rodrigo Duterte.
