Joy Viado’s family and friends mourn at her wake

- The remains of actress Joy Viado, who died of a heart attack last Saturday, were visited by her family, friends, and fans

- Some of the showbiz personalities who visited her wake include Jim Paredes, Minnie Aguilar, Beverly Salviejo, Al Tantay, Ricardo Cepeda and Malou de Guzman.

- Many of Viado’s celebrity friends were shocked with her death because they thought that she had fully recovered from her health issues

Actress-comedian Joy Viado, who died on September 10, Saturday, at the age of 57 due to a heart attack, was mourned by her family, fans and friends during her wake at the Arlington Memorial Chapels located in Araneta Avenue, Quezon City.

Several of Viado’s celebrity friends were in denial when they heard that she had passed away.

“Nakita nga sa (I saw it on) social media, but I had to make sure na totoo (that it was true),” actress Minnie Aguilar said.

Some of Viado’s friends were shocked by the news of her death because they thought that she had already recovered from her health condition. She battled diabetes in 2015 and almost lost her leg in the process.

Viado’s friends in show business even held three fund-raising events to help her pay her medical and hospital bills.

“Since intensive yung ginawang pag gamot sa kaniya, naka-recover (siya) (Since her treatment was intensive, she was able to recover)… Bumabalik na siya eh, di ba (She was coming back, right)? May guesting na siya, may pelikula na siyang naka line up, may abroad siyang naka line up (She already had guestings, a film and a show abroad line-up),” actress-comedian Beverly Salviejo explained.

Her other celebrity friends such as Jim Paredes, Al Tantay, Malou de Guzman, and Ricardo Cepeda also visited her wake.

“At least now, she’s resting,” Aguilar said.

The date and time of her cremation at Arlington Memorial Chapels have yet to be announced.

Joy Viado appeared in popular movies such as “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy,” “Da Possessed,” “Sisterakas,” and “Who’s That Girl?” Her TV shows include “Luv U,” “Got to Believe,” and “Wansapanataym.”
