- Last month, an alleged poster of GMA's new primetime show 'Alyas Robinhood' made its rounds online, where netizens noticed its uncanny similarity to CW's 'Arrow'
- On a press conference yesterday, its lead star Dingdong Dantes clarified that the poster was not from the network and its plot was different from the American series
- The actor added that the network's projects have been meticulously reviewed and researched before they give it to him
That infamous poster of Dingdong Dantes' new show that has circulated online? Not officially made by the production team.
The return of the Kapuso Primetime King a year after his last show, 'Pari 'Koy', has become controversial due to the poster of his next show, 'Alyas Robin Hood'.
Dantes' new primetime series, which will be released on September 19, was already deemed a ripoff of CW's 'Arrow' due to what has been shared online.
According to the actor, what people saw on social media was a fan-made poster.
"With regards to the poster, klaro naman na yun ay fan made. Hindi naman natin maku-control yung mga ganun. Pero dapat siguro nagkaroon ng pagpu-pulis pagdating sa mga bagay na yun. Nowadays, pagdating sa mga bagay na ‘yan sa social media, madaling maikalat. Kapag nakita mo na ang logo ng isang hinahangaan mo, mapapaniwala ka," he said during the show's press conference yesterday.
(With regards to the poster, it is clear that it is fan made. We cannot control those things, but maybe there should be someone to regulate them. Nowadays, it is easier to spread those kinds of things on social media. If you see the logo of something you admire, you'll believe it.)
Not only did Dantes clear the issue about the poster's origins, he added that it was completely different from the American series.
"Ang 'Robin Hood' kasi, base talaga siya sa isang alamat. Isang alamat na napagdaanan na natin ‘yan, alam na natin ang istorya niyan."
('Robin Hood' is really based on a legend. It's a legend that we've all heard of, we already know its story.)
He then went on by saying that the show is a master plot, like other classic stories such as 'Cinderella' and Romeo and Juliet'.
Despite being a fresh retelling of a canon tale, he said that it will still be relatable.
Those reasons were not enough for the actor to defend his new show, he also shared his confidence in his network that his project has been well-thought-of.
"I was talking about being here for eighteen years. 'Yung eighteen years na 'yun, ganun din katagal ko ipinagkatiwala ang aking sarili," he started, "That’s practically more than half of my life sa GMA, sa mga programang ibinibigay nila sa akin. Alam ko na lahat ng programa nila ay dumadaan sa masusing pagsusuri, pagri-research. At kakaibang creative teams ang mga nasa likod ng show ng GMA.That’s why confident ako sa lahat ng ibinibigay sa akin at tiwalang-tiwala ako sa lahat ng ibinibigay sa akin."

(I was talking about being here for eighteen years. Those eighteen years, that's how long I have entrusted myself. That's practically more than half of my life in GMA, with the programs they have been giving me. I know that all of their programs go through extensive reviewing and researching. And there are unusual creative teams behind the shows in GMA. That's why I'm confident on all the shows that has been given to me and I wholeheartedly trust everything that comes my way.)

Despite his answers, Dantes is not offended about the publicity his show got prior to its airing.
"First, we’re grateful that it was shared. Natutuwa kami na yung trabaho namin, ipinapakita pa sa mas maraming tao. I believe na yung taong gumawa nun ay isang sikat na tao sa atin kaya marami rin ang humahanga sa kanya. Kaya nagpapasalamat ako na nai-share niya yung pinagharapan niya."
(First, we're grateful that it was shared. We are happy that our work has reached a wider audience. I believe that the person behind the poster is already famous and may also have a following. I am thankful that the person shared what he or she worked hard on.)
