As part of its commitment to expand basketball and business opportunities in the Philippine market, the NBA has opened its office in Taguig’s financial district, Bonifacio Global City (BGC). The announcement was made on Tuesday at NBA Cafe Manila.
This is the league’s 13th international office, the first in Southeast Asia. Hong Kong houses the main office in the Asia-Pacific region. The satellite office in Taguig will work in coordination with the Hong Kong site and the headquarters in New York.
According to NBA Philippines Managing Director Carlo Singson, the Philippines is one the NBA's biggest markets. "We're in the top five in terms of revenue," Singson added.
NBA Asia Managing Director Scott Levy said in a statement, "Opening an office in the Philippines is the next step in our efforts to grow basketball and the NBA's popularity throughout Asia." "The fandom that exists in the Philippines presents an ideal opportunity to grow the game that we hope to replicate in the region."
With an established office in the country, hoop fans can expect more NBA events, such as player visits, legend visits, and WNBA player visits. The NBA office in partnership with NBA stores and other related businesses could also provide jobs for the people.
