- Social media couldn’t get over the charming heartthrobs of the reality-talent search ‘Pinoy Boyband Superstar’
- 3 hopefuls namely Allen Cecilio, Ford Valencia, and Niel Murillo won over the all-female audience and the panel of judges
- The search for the 5-member boyband which will be launched at the end of the show continues every weekend on ABS-CBN
ABS-CBN’s newest reality-talent search, ‘Pinoy Boyband Superstar,’ delivered its promise to find the country’s biggest boyband during its premiere episode which aired on Saturday, August 10.
The show originated from the hit Latin-American singing competition, ‘La Banda’. It was the brain child of Simon Cowell and Ricky Martin.
They’ve successfully welcomed 3 new hopefuls who will have the chance to complete the 5-member group to be launched at the end of the show.
The 17-year old Allen Cecilio didn’t have a hard time wooing the crowd with his dance moves. In order for contestants to face the judges, they should get a 75% score from the all-female audience.
He received a 98% approval and had the chance to get his hair fixed by no other than the Korean superstar, Sandara Park.
Regardless of some shaky notes pointed out by Yeng Constantino, his rendition of ‘Yakap Sa Dilim’ earned him a spot to the next round.
As early as now, Cecilio proved his growing number of admirers by making it to the Philippine trending list on Twitter with over 160,000 tweets.
Despite the age difference with the contestant prior to him, Ford Valencia exhibited a mysterious aura along with his soulful rendition of ‘All of Me’ by John Legend.
While Constantino, Park, and Aga Muhlach agreed that Valencia has the potential, Vice Ganda begged to disagree. According to him, the 21-year old hopeful doesn’t fit with the image of the boyband in his mind.
With three approvals, he went through the first round with flying colors. He also got the support from netizens who believed he has what it takes to stand out in the group.
The last contestant of the night also became the talk of the town with his good looks. Some people even compared him to the former member of One Direction, Zayn Malik.
Niel Murillo traveled all the way from Cebu City in the hopes of treating the eyes of his blind brother. He serenaded everyone including the giddy judges with Sam Concepcion’s hit, ‘Mahal na Mahal.’
‘Pinoy Boyband Superstar’ airs during the weekends at 7 p.m.
Upon getting a 75% approval from the audience, a contestant would be given the chance to face the panel of judges. However, if they deemed fit, the judges could save a hopeful even if he received a lower score.
