- A video of PNP Chief Bato dela Rosa visiting and comforting a cop shot in the head while doing his duty went viral
- Bato gave the hero cop a certificate and cash for his heroic efforts
- Netizens appreciated the warm gesture of the PNP chief
A video of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa visiting a policeman who was shot during a drug operation had swept the online community.
The gunshot victim is P02 Joemar Fuentes, shot in the head by a brother of a drug pusher during a police operation. Despite being shot in the head, Fuentes was able to survive and was even conscious as Bato visited him in the hospital.
The PNP chief gave the heroic cop a certificate for his heroism and cash for risking his life in performing his duties as a policeman.
Fuentes – who had a hard time seeing, talking, and moving – cried his heart out after Bato congratulated him for his efforts. The PNP chief told the injured cop to get well soon and to avoid getting injured the next time he encounters drug pushers. Bato also described Fuentes as a hero.
Netizens were touched with Bato’s gestures, saying that Fuentes will have an easier time recovering from his injuries because of the PNP chief’s concern for him.
“Nakakataba ng puso itong si Bato. Kung ito ang dadalaw sa isang pasyente ay talagang gagaling ka kaagad,” a netizen posted.
(Bato’s gesture is heart-warming. A patient would surely recover quickly if this is the kind of person that would visit.)
Other netizens offered their prayers for the recovery of the heroic policeman.
“I pray for your fast recovery, para makapiling mo na rin agad ang mahal mong pamilya (so that you can be with your loved ones again),” an online user commented.
