- A fan asked about the “Alyas Robin Hood” controversy while Stephen was doing a Facebook Question and Answer
- He answered that he doesn’t care but that it looks familiar
- Netizens have also reacted to what the Arrow actor said regarding the upcoming Philippine TV show
A few days ago, Filipino fans apologized towards a Hollywood actor on his Facebook page. The reason is because he shared a local upcoming TV show by GMA network with a shocked emoji.
It might not have said much, but that simple emoji has caused outcry from many netizens. Stephen Amell, the star of the hit series “Arrow” shared the teaser of “Alyas Robin Hood” on his own Facebook page.
Many felt embarrassed with it because it seemed like “Alyas Robin Hood,” starring Dingdong Dantes, copied “Arrow.” They had many similarities like the treatment, color, tone, and theme.
Netizens also had a debate going on that thread because while some were apologetic, some also defended that it hasn’t aired yet and that they all copied the original story of “Robin Hood.”
Just yesterday, Stephen Amell did a Facebook Q&A for his fans. He answered many questions about his show Arrow, some personal stuff, and one fan also asked him directly about his stance on the Alyas Robin Hood controversy.
Facebook User, Maria Anngria Hall asked, “What is your comment about the “Alyas Robin Hood” in the Philippines?”
He answered that he doesn’t have any clue about it and “frankly, I don’t care - at all – either way.”
Stephen may not show that he cares but he quipped, “But boy oh boy does it look familiar.” It may mean that he also sees some similarities with his show.
Netizens and his fans also pitched in their comments regarding his statement. Some are still embarrassed and started apologizing again.
Some fans defended the GMA TV show because it may have a different plot and because it is one ‘adaptation’ of the original “Robin Hood” story.
Many have cried that it’s still a “copycat” even if it hasn’t aired yet.
