IT-BPO foreseen to help stop exodus of Filipinos to work abroad

HIGHLIGHT: Information Technology and Business Process Management  (IT-BPM) industry is foreseen to help solve the exodus of many Filipinos to work abroad according to Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

In the recent 10th International Information Communications and Technology (ICT) Awards, the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (ITBAP) said that the multi-billion industry is currently the second largest source of dollar income in the Philippines. It has  generated 1.2 million direct jobs and US$22 billion as revenues in 2015.

The event was co-presented by Globe Business, which commits to develop productivity in the BPO industry.

According to Information Technology-Business Process Association of the Philippines (ITBAP) president Jose Mari Mercado in a conference held in 2015, the income in 2014 was $18.9 billion and has given jobs to 1 million Pinoys.
