- Celebrities and artists who might get arrested due to their involvement in illegal drugs are the only ones at fault, says Edu Manzano
- Manzano says that there have been a prior warning regarding the issue and they should be more cautious and aware of the consequences
- The administration has an alleged list of celebrities involved in drugs obtained from DJ Karen who was recently arrested
Actor Edu Manzano said that celebrities and artists who might be caught due to their involvement to the illegal drug trade in the country have no one to blame but themselves, considering the active campaign of President Rodrigo Duterte against drugs.
“Kung mag-raid ang PDEA [Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency] at may mahuli na artista (If PDEA conducts a raid and an artist bets caught), they only have themselves to blame. The warning has been given out already... The artists have been forewarned,” said Manzano.
Further, Manzano stated that police authorities should be cautious and clear on the information they have on their drug list.
“Kung saka-sakali ay talagang existent itong alleged na listahan, sana naman medyo i-validate muna at i-vet mabuti ang listahan para makita natin kung credible. Because ang listahan na ni-release in the past have been proven to be in error sa ilang aspeto,” the actor emphasized.
(If there is really a list, they should validate the information properly so we would be able to see if it is credible. The previous list that was released in the past have been proven to be in error in some aspects.)
He added, “Itong mga listahan na sinasabing mayroon, dapat sana ma-ivalidate sana. May kaakibat na aktwal na ebidensya man lang in the form of actual witness accounts or video footage para sa ganoon hindi sabihin na ito ay tsismis lamang.”

(The list they are saying that they have in hand, it should be validated. There should be an actual evidence in the form of actual witness accounts or video footage so that people won’t say that it is just hearsay or gossip.)
As an artist himself, Manzano is concerned on the impact of the alleged celebrity drug list since these artists have a strong influence on the youth.
“As you know, malaki ang impluwensya ng industriya sa mga kabataan for one (the industry has a strong influence on the youth). The industry has intrigues. It has gossips,” he explained.
The drug list was claimed to have been obtained by the District Anti-Illegal Drugs Division from DJ Karen Bordador and her boyfriend Emilio Lim, who were previously arrested in a buy-bust operation.
Meanwhile, Manzano claims that there are only a few celebrities who use illegal drugs because it negatively affects their performance.
The campaign of Duterte against drugs has been successful and is still ongoing, thus, Manzano warns artists to refrain from using illegal drugs in order to preserve their careers.
