Philippine National Police Chief General Ronald Bato Dela Rosa disagrees with the suggestion of actor Robin Padilla not to reveal the names of celebrities who are alleged drug users and pushers.
According to Dela Rosa, it is unfair to politicians and personalities that were named earlier by President Rodrigo Duterte. Padilla suggested not to publicly shamed showbiz personalities found out as drug users and conduct a dialogue with the celebrities.
“Ay, hindi na tayo fair diyan sa lahat, di ba? E, selective na itong ating naging kampanya. Kailangan maging transparent tayo sa lahat (We will not be fair to all, right? Our campaign is selective. We must be transparent to all.),” he said.
Dela Rosa advised showbiz personalities that are involved in drugs to surrender in order to clear their name. PNP claimed that it has a long list of celebrities and personalities that are involved in illegal drugs. PNP also reportedly obtained the list of celebrity clients of FM DJ Karen Bordador and her boyfriend.
The police also stated that it will investigate the celebrities seen going back and forth in a condominium unit in Mandaluyong City. The said unit was raided and drugs were found.
ABS-CBN talent management arm Star Magic initiated a supervised and voluntary drug test among its 40 artists, including Enrique Gil, Jake Cuenca, and Diego Loyzaga. Star Magic said that these 40 artists are negative on the said drug tests. Meanwhile, Kapamilya actor Luis Manzano also underwent a drug test and tested negative.
