President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday showed his emotional side as he visited the wake in Zamboanga City of the 15 soldiers killed in combat with the terror group Abu Sayyaf in the Sulu province. The President gave some words of encouragement and tried to console the families left behind by the slain soldiers.
Aside from consoling the families, the President also slammed the Abu Sayyaf terrorists for killing soldiers and beheading their hostages in the name of their religion.
“You think Allah would be happy to see you do like that? In the name of Allah, you kill then, unnecessarily, you mutilate the body of the human being?” Duterte said.
Duterte was photographed saluting at the coffin of each slain soldier.
To show his deep respect, Duterte even kissed the framed photographs of the fallen soldiers.
The President also made sure to give a hug and shake the hands of the wives of the killed soldiers.
The most heart-breaking moments during the wake involve Duterte hugging the family members of the dead soldiers.
The President is planning to send more Soldiers to Sulu and Basilan to completely eradicate the bandit group. The terrorist group recently beheaded their Filipino teen hostage after the deadline for the P1-million ransom money passed.
Netizens applauded the gestures of Duterte towards the families of the slain soldiers, describing the President’s actions as heartfelt and sincere.
