An Aldub solo movie is confirmed!
Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, better known together as Aldub, will finally headline their own movie.
The announcement was part of the 9th monthsary celebration of the phenomenal love team on Eat Bulaga's Kalyeserye segment last Saturday, April 16.
The movie is set to be released on July 16, in time for Aldub's first anniversary.
After the announcement, Alden told Maine that he has been waiting for the chance to make a movie with her.
He also had this to say for their naysayers: "Let's prove them wrong."
Alden added that they're journey together as a love team hasn't been easy, but that they are emboldened by the love and support they receive from loyal fans.
"Sa lahat ng naghihintay, sa lahat ng minsan ay nagdududa sa amin ni Maine, at sa lahat ng hindi na makapaghintay, ito na po. Excited na po kami ni Maine na gawin ang proyektong 'to para sa inyo," said Alden.
(To all who are waiting for this, to all who have sometimes doubted Maine and me, and to all those who can't wait anymore, here it is. Maine and I are excited to do this project for you.)
Maine also offered reassurances to their fans: "Promise, gagalingan po namin. (I promise, we'll do our best.)"
Alden and Maine's first movie was the blockbuster hit My Bebe Love with co-stars Vic Sotto and AiAi delas Alas.
Maine won best supporting actress for the movie in the 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival awards.
The young actress expressed initial reluctance for a premature movie, but declared that this was the right moment for the pair to star in their own film.
"Lahat po ng ginagawa ko dito, lahat po puro una. Kaya 'yung iba po nagmamadali, pinepressure po tayo," said Maine.
(Everything I do [in show business], I do so for the first time. Some wanted to rush things, creating pressure for me.)
She added: "Lahat po ng tatahakin ko po dito, may tamang panahon. Ngayon po siguro 'yung tamang panahon para magkaroon kami ng sarili naming pelikula ni Alden."
(Everything will have its own time. Perhaps, now is the right time for Alden and I to have a solo movie.)
The showbiz newcomer is currently undergoing acting workshops with Gina Alajar, veteran actress and director.
Alajar shared on Instagram the result of their second day of training, telling Maine to "keep the emotions flowing."
