- There is a clamor for networks to conduct a drug test among its artists in response to the government’s campaign against illegal drugs
Enrique Gil is negative on the drug test conducted by the ABS-CBN's talent management arm Star Magic.
Star Magic did a drug test on 40 of its artists over the weekend in response to the government’s campaign against illegal drugs. The talent management division announced that all 40 artists were cleared and tested negative on the “supervised and voluntary drug test”.
"Results were 100% negative for Jake Cuenca, Enrique Gil and Diego Loyzaga and the rest of the Star Magic artists. Star Magic believes in the efforts of the current campaign to keep our homes and working environments drug-free," the statement read.
However, the statement did not reveal the names of the 37 other artists who took the drug test.
There have been many calls for networks to do a surprise drug test among its talents after the current campaign against illegal drugs made a sharp turn towards the entertainment industry.
Ever since FM DJ Karen Bordador was nabbed by the police and PNP revealed that they got a “celebrity list” that contains names and orders of celebrities and wealthy people.
Last week, "Till I Met You" star James Reid said he is willing to undergo a drug test, adding that there is nothing wrong with the current campaign against illegal drugs.
However, Robin Padilla urged caution when naming suspected drug users in showbiz. He said that there is a more diplomatic way to undertake the drug issue in the industry without publicly shaming the artists.
