- A cool new MTV ad was seen above the Hudson
- Two helicopters: one with a 76m screen and the other equipped with three 4K projectors flew above New York promoting MTV's Music Video Awards
- The ad already landed them a place in the Guiness Book of World Records!
Last week MTV decided to promote its Video Music Awards in a cool new way. Instead of opting for the old plane-pulling-the-banner ad, they decided to go with two helicopters! One helicopter would pull a 76 meter screen while the other, equipped with three 4K projectors, would project the image onto the screen.
The advertisement already landed itself a place among the Guiness Book of World Records under ‘Largest Aerial Projection Screen’.
The screen was custom engineered for the event: it had special pockets on top to give it lift and weights on the bottom to keep it taut. In a true mastery of the helicopter the second helicopter always managed to keep it projectors aimed at the screen, although it seems it got some help from the projector system which was able to track the screens location.
