Do you think you can finish 5 burgers under a minute?
While that might be a difficult task for you, it appears to be an easy feat for Filipino Rix “Terabite” Francisco who set a new world record during the History con at the World Trade Center on Saturday, August 27.
Francisco proved his worthiness on earning the nickname when he easily gobbled up 5 quarter pounders from Zark’s Burgers in just 60 seconds.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Francisco admitted that he was surprised to learn the number of burgers he was able to wolf down. According to him, nobody in his team could successfully do it and how their training was solely focused on finishing five burgers.
Hence, Francisco opted to keep his mind off counting the number of snacks he has been eating as his method. He preferred to place his concentration on finishing one burger after another, simply awaiting the announcement of his results.
Upon the host declaring his fifth burger, Francisco shared of finally feeling the adrenaline rush.
When the time limit was up, the crowd cheered as Francisco made history in the event.
The record-breaker opened up about another strategy of his wherein he deconstructs his food in order to help him eat them faster. Francisco added how he eats the crust in a pizza first, just like how he picks up the beef in gyudon before the rice.
Contrary to popular belief, Francisco undergoes a special diet and training since he has to prepare his body to eat a variety of food for the sport. Part of his regimen entails only having water for consumption and skipping of meals before partaking in competitions.
Before accomplishing the challenge, the previous title belonged to Polish-Canadian Peter Czerwinski who ate one burger less back in 2013.
A video of Francisco’s stint has been uploaded on Zark’s Facebook account. Web users have expressed how impressed they are on the turn of events, and even called Francisco their ‘idol.’
